Eliminating Shortages

Permanent access, constant availability, and adjustable amounts have helped prevent shortages of LPG as a basic service in the most vulnerable areas. When a family runs out of LPG, PayGas is there to supply gas in the same cylinder, at any desired quantity.

Zintle

“Paraffin used to cost me 15 ZAR for one liter every day and would take me one hour to cook a meal of rice for my family. With PayGas, I can purchase half a kilo of gas for 10 ZAR, it will last 3 to 4 days and I can cook my rice in 30 minutes.”

Improving Health

Cleaner cooking fuel equals better health. Everywhere there has been substantial investments in LPG, diseases from household air pollution have steadily decreased.

Khunjulwa

“I used to cook with paraffin, and it was dangerous for the children in our house as it caused respiratory problems. Thanks to PayGas, I switched to LPG and can now cook with the children inside the house.”

Reducing Emissions

Cleaner cooking fuel equals better environments. Compared to traditional fuels such as kerosene, wood or coal, LPG is five times more efficient, produces less air pollutants, and emits approximately 20% less CO2 than heating oil and 50% less than coal. LPG is not a green-house gas, meaning it is assigned a global warming potential (GWP) factor of zero.

PayGas Franchisee in Nyanga, South Africa

“I didn’t have a clue about the gas distribution business before I started as a franchisee for PayGas. I added a new product to my existing business and the additional revenue helped hire people from the community. Now, the more I operate the station, the more I am interested in this business. I can say with confidence that gas is not a men’s business.”
